I agree that Twitter is a great tool to market something. It's an easy way to create a large following and broadcast to people. I have my personal Twitter, but I also have a Twitter account specifically to share my writing @joelswriting. I encourage anyone to follow me there. That's the only part I disagree with that you wrote. I follow a lot of other people in order to spread my name and product out further. I'm not sure that it is necessary to carefully choose who you follow when trying to create a following.
